Dear
Friends,
I
am excited to invite you to be a part of Hollywood Remembers, an event
to commemorate World AIDS Day and celebrate loved ones.
In preparing for this show I have been
playing a memory over and over in my mind of the first time I saw the
National AIDS Memorial Quilt. I was probably ten years old and, as I
was enjoying looking at the bright colors and beautiful designs, an
adult explained to me that each square represented someone who had died.
I thought to myself, “Funny, it sure looks like a happy quilt
to me.” It is my hope that those who walk into Hollywood Remembers
will have that same reaction as this event is to be a celebration!
You have the opportunity to participate
in this event in a very unique way. In addition to uplifting performances
and original pieces of the AIDS Memorial Quilt, television monitors
will be set up around the Hollywood Lutheran sanctuary displaying slide
shows of pictures, video clips, names and other remembrances of those
you and I have lost to this disease. I was delighted to volunteer to
collect these images.
The best way to get these images to me
would be to email the images or mail them on a CD. If this is not possible,
please send me originals of your photos or videos and I promise to return
them when the event is over. The deadline to submit items is November
15th.
I invite you to call, email, and write
to me at the above address with all of your memories and with any questions.
I look forward to hearing from you soon and celebrating with you on
November 30th!
Sincerely, |
